Musical concert to salute medical cadres’ efforts in facing COVID-19 

Damascus, SANA_ The Syrian Women’s Oriental Takht Musical Ensemble performed a musical concert at lobby of al-Assad University Hospital to salute and thank the medical cadres’ efforts in facing the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

‘The event conveys a message of love, humanity and gratitude to all medical staffs who showed courage during these difficult times and exerted great efforts in confronting this pandemic.” Director of the Ensemble Dima Mawazini told SANA.

The Syrian Women’s Oriental Takht Musical Ensemble was formed in 2003, and consists of graduates of the Higher Institute for Music in Damascus. The word “Takht” is the name given to Middle Eastern musical ensembles or groups that employs traditional Arabic instruments like the oud and qanun and performs traditional local music.
