Havana, SANA- Chairwoman of the Cuban-Syrian Friendship Group Lisara Liliam Corona Oliveros has called for lifting the Western unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, particularly in light of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), renewing solidarity with it.
In statements published on the website of the Cuban Parliament, Oliveros said that these unjust measures hinder the efforts exerted by the Syrian government for tackling the pandemic of the coronavirus and they are unjustified in any way and they are considered as a criminal act against the Syrian people in a time when humanity is passing through a global crisis.
She noted that the international cooperation and solidarity constitute the most effective way for addressing this pandemic, renewing the Cuban-Syrian Friendship Group’s firm solidarity with the Syrian people, government and people, and expressing confidence that Syria will overcome all the crises.
In a phone call with Syria’s Ambassador to Cuba Dr. Idris Mayya, Oliveros affirmed the Cuban Parliament’s solidarity with Syria, saying that Cuban has always been and will remain by the side of Syria, particularly in light of the current circumstances.
She underlined the importance of enhancing relations between the parliaments of the two countries so as to meet the interests of the two friendly peoples and countries, hailing the historic relations binding the two countries.
