Tehran, SANA-Guarantor states of Astana process (Russia, Iran and Turkey) reiterated commitment to respecting Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and continuing the fight against terrorism in the country.
“Foreign Ministers of the three countries affirmed during a meeting via TV closed conference on Wednesday the need for continuing the diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and fighting terrorism,” a statement for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said according to IRNA.
They agreed to continue coordination among the three countries in the formula of Astana track as it is the most important thing to find a solution to the crisis in Syria, including holding the 6th meeting for Presidents of the three countries in Iran after improvement of conditions in light of Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Iranian foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, called for lifting the unilateral, coercive measures imposed on Syria and Iran, particularly in light of coronavirus spread.
“Imposing sanctions on Syria and Iran is a dangerous obstacle in front of confronting coronavirus in the two countries,” Zarif said.
He stressed that the Israeli repeated attacks on Syrian territories are violation of Syria’s sovereignty and international laws that pose threat to regional peace and stability.
In a relevant context, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed the need for working and exerting collective efforts to restore security and stability to all Syrian territories and prevailing peace in the region.
Rouhani, in a telephone call with Head of the Turkish regime, Erdogan, added “We have to work for the return of stability in Syria and countries of the region.”
