Syrian Arab Republic delegation to Astana holds meetings with Iranian delegation, UN delegation

Nur-Sultan, SANA- Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation, headed by Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, on Wednesday held a meeting with the Iranian delegation headed by Foreign Minister’s Senior Assistant for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji in Nur-Sultan in framework of the 14th round of Astana talks on Syria.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the items listed on the current agenda within Astana format as stances were coordinated towards these items and the final statement to be issued today on the outcomes of the round.

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by al-Jaafari, also met the UN delegation, headed by UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.

The two delegations discussed the points listed on the agenda of the current round of Astana meetings.

On Tuesday, the 14th round of Astana talks on Syria kicked off at the Kazakh capital city of Nur-Sultan with the participation of the Syrian Arab Republic delegation and other delegations.

Astana meetings started in the Kazakh capital city by the beginning of the year 2017 as 13 meetings have been held, one of them was held at the Russian city of Sochi, and all of them affirmed the firm adherence to preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and continuing to combat the terrorist organizations in it till eradicating them completely.
