Al-Moallem underlines importance of enhancing Syrian-Chinese relations

Damascus, SANA- The embassy of the People’s Republic of China on Monday evening held a reception ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of its National Day at the Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.

In a speech during the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem congratulated China and its friendly people on the 70th anniversary of its National Day, underlining the importance of enhancing relations between the two friendly countries in different domains.

Al-Moallem referred to the support and the mutual stances of the two countries at the international circles, highly appreciating China’s Veto at the Security Council few days ago against a draft resolution that aims to protect terrorists.

Al-Moallem declared that on Monday, the work of the committee to discuss the constitution was launched after the visit of Pedersen as all the details of this committee were agreed upon thanks to the follow-up and directions of President Bashar al-Assad over18 months of talks.

He expressed thanks for China, Russia and Iran who have followed up the work of the talks to come up with this outcome.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador in Damascus Feng Biao affirmed in a speech the depth of the friendly relations between Syria and China and their continued cooperation in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Ambassador Feng Biao reiterated China’s adherence to its just stance towards the crisis in Syria and its standing by it at the international circles, and his country’s call for respecting the UN Charter and the rules of the international law and Syria’s sovereignty and its territorial integrity and that its people are the only ones who decide its future.

The Chinese Ambassador indicted to his country’s stance in support to Syria in combating terrorism, congratulating the Syrian people and their leadership on the victories they achieve in their war against terrorism.

He expressed his country’s readiness to participate in the reconstruction stage and its continued efforts to boost relations with Syria in different domains.
