Khamis: Damascus International Fair represents a message that Syria is strong and recovering

Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Wednesday evening toured a number of national companies which are participating in Damascus International Fair within the Syrian pavilion, and he was briefed by their supervisors on the facilities provided to them.

Premier Khamis affirmed that the government pays a great attention to supporting the local industry and providing all of its requirements in the framework of speeding up the wheel of production and supporting the national economy.

Khamis also visited a number of pavilions of foreign and Arab states which are participating in the fair such as Russia, Iran, China, Iraq and Venezuela, the Chamber of Commerce of the Sultanate of Oman, Belarus, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) , Pakistan, the UAE, Crimea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cuba and Macedonia.

He also visited the pavilion of Information Ministry and inspected the work of the media center in it, highly appreciating the efforts exerted by the national mass media in keeping pace with the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army, in addition to covering all the activities and events with a high professionalism.

In a statement to journalists in the end of his tour, Khamis affirmed that launching the 61st edition of Damascus International Fair with the participation of a large number of foreign and Arab states and companies over the largest area ever since the fair was launched represents a message from the Syrian people and army to the whole world that Syria is strong and it is recovering.

He affirmed that this message is the outcome of the sacrifices of the Syrian people and army in defending the homeland in the face of the terrorist, economic and media war wages against Syria.

Khamis added that the government is working on setting an economic vision to pave the way for the reconstruction process with all of its aspects and on all service and economic levels within a comprehensive developments process which has been prepared by the Government during the years of the war and it is currently being developed.

Regarding Washington’s threats on imposing sanctions on the companies which will participate in Damascus International Fair, Khamis noted that these threats aren’t new and they are continued even before the war waged against Syria, affirming that no matter what sanctions they will impose on Syria, the Syrian people’s will of life, production and construction will become stronger.

For his part, Information Minister Imad Sara said in a statement to journalists that about 125 media outlets are participating in covering the events of the fair, adding that the fair has a special importance this year as it comes in parallel with the victories of the Syrian Arab Army which it has recently achieved in Hama northern countryside and Idleb southern countryside.

The Minister indicated that the fair represents a significant platform in which businessmen from the participating states will meet their Syrian counterparts and will they get acquainted with the latest economic and industrial developments and they will sign contracts and agreements .

Minister Sara affirmed that the fair sends a number of significant messages, the most important of which is that the Syrian citizens have remained steadfast and they won and started the reconstruction stage of their homeland.
