Damascus, SANA – The Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that the 9th national campaign for vaccination against polio reached 2.6 million children under five, with Hama ranking first among provinces in the number of children who received vaccination.
Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazigi said that 325,234 children were vaccinated in Hama, followed by Damascus Countryside with 320,700, Damascus with 276,382, and Hasaka with 231,994.
He went on to say that the number of children vaccinated in Raqqa province increased markedly from previous campaign, with the number reaching 193,107, while the campaign reached 93,861 in Idleb and 122,782 in Daraa.
The Minister said these numbers are likely to increase as more numbers are coming in from some areas that couldn’t send their reports yet due to circumstances in some provinces, asserting that the Ministry is committed to providing the necessary vaccines to all children under five in Syria.
The campaign in question was launched on October 19th, lasting five days and providing vaccines via health centers, temporary housing centers, and mobile teams, with around 1,000 workers taking part in it.
