Damascus, SANA- The embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus on Sunday held a reception ceremony marking the 79th anniversary of the National Day of Pakistan at the Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.
Pakistan’s Ambassador in Damascus Rashed Kamal, in a speech at the reception, said that Syria and Pakistan stand in the face of terrorism, congratulating the Syrian people, army and leadership on the victories achieved everyday on terrorism.
Ambassador Kamal affirmed his country’s support to solving all the international problems through dialogue and peaceful means, and its adherence to the principles and the goals of the UN and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
He added that Pakistan seeks to establish cooperation relations with the neighboring states.
For his part, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad underlined the deep-rootedness of the Syrian-Pakistani relations and the cooperation between the two countries to achieve many common goals on different levels.
Mikdad indicated to the two countries’ joint struggle against terrorism, shedding light on the solid cultural and economic relations binding Syria and Pakistan.
He hailed Pakistan’s standing by the Arab struggle for liberating Palestine and ending the foreign hegemony and arrogance, appreciating the standing cooperation between the two countries at the international forums.
Mikdad referred to the honorable stances of Pakistan and its standing by Syria at the Human Rights Council and its solidarity with it with regard to the occupied Syrian Golan.
He reaffirmed the Syrians’ support to the occupied Syrian Golan and their determination to liberate it from the “Israeli” occupation.
Grand Mufti of the Republic, Ahmad Bader Eddin Hassoun underlined the depth of the relations binding the two countries, affirming the importance of Pakistan’s participation in the reconstruction stage in Syria.
Hassoun congratulated the Pakistani people on the National Day of their country.
