Patriarch John X: Syrian people still steadfast and resist ugliest terrorist attack  

Damascus, SANA- Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East for Rome Orthodox on Sunday opened the Icon Exhibition under the title “And the Word Became Body” at the Holy Cross Church in Damascus.

Patriarch John, in a statement, indicated that opening the exhibition affirms that the Syrian people are still steadfast and they resist the ugliest terrorist attack as they have been able through their solidarity with their army and wise leadership to crush terrorism and achieve victory.

The Patriarch added that the exhibition, which will last till April 2nd, embraces a number of icons from different Syrian churches which depict the development of such kind of the Syrian Christian heritage with its ancient and modern schools.

The exhibition also showcases a number of the icons which had been burnt or destroyed at the hands of terrorists in Ma’aloula archeological city which are being rehabilitation now.

For her part, artist Nawal Hosni Astfanous  indicated that she drew a number of modern icons which are showcased at the exhibition, indicating that she depended on the Byzantine school.
