New York, SANA- Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari reiterated Syria’s categorical rejection of the Israeli occupation authorities’ measures in the occupied Syrian Golan.
Speaking during UN Security Council session on the status in the Middle East on Thursday al-Jaafari stressed that the occupied Arab territories will be liberated by all means guaranteed by the provisions of the UN’s Charter and Security Council resolutions.
He said that more than seven decades have passed since the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and the plight of more than five million Palestinian refugees were expelled from their land and homes which were sized by the Israeli occupation.
He wondered how many decades should pass on the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories so that some people finally recognize the need for taking serious actions by the Security Council to end it and how many innocent victims should fall to convince some that the Israeli occupation of Arab lands is the main reason of instability in our region.
“Syria renews its firm stance in support of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,” Al-jaafari said.
He added that Israel is still occupying a large part of our land in the occupied Syrian Golan as our people there are still suffering from the Israeli hostile and repressive practices that have reached the limit of protecting terrorist organizations, providing logistical and military support to them and launching repeated attacks on the Syrian territory, violating 1974 disengagement agreement and endangering life of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force ( UNDOF).
Al-Jaafari stressed that the Israeli attacks on the scientific and civilian facilities in Syria constitutes a clear evidence that Israel moved into a new phase of practicing the state terrorism, not to mention smuggling members of the so-called “the white helmets” terrorist organization.
“ Syria categorically rejects the Israeli occupation decision to hold elections of the so-called the local councils in the occupied Syrian Golan,” al-Jaafari said.
He stressed that it is no longer acceptable that the United Nations and its member states will deal with the Israeli occupation in a routine or solidarity manner without any serious action that will yield real results, especially after the statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on October 8th which prove that “Israel” is not interested in UN Charter and that it is determined to violate Security Council resolutions, including Resolution No. 497.
