Damascus, SANA – The Higher Council for Economic and Social Planning continued its meetings on Monday to discuss the basis and directives for the 2015 state general budget.
Chairing the meeting, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi stressed the need to implement the ministries’ work programs and plans, achieve optimal investment of available resources, control spending, and curb squandering and corruption.
He noted that studying the balances of ministries showed structural issues in some of the ministries, which requires revaluating and then reforming their structures.
In turn, the ministers discussed the goals and basis on which the ministries’ budgets were set.
Afterwards, the Higher Council gave preliminary approval for the 2015 state budget draft.
