48 countries to participate in Damascus International Fair till now

Damascus, SANA- The Damascus International Fair has achieved a remarkable number of countries that have been confirmed to participate in its 60th edition scheduled for next September.

The number of participant countries reached 48 through official, agents and commercial participations, and the number is expected to increase according to the management of the fair.

Speaking to SANA, Rania al-Ahmad, Assistant Economy Minister for Economic Development and International Relations said that the promotion for the Fair and the encouragement to participation was the outcome of a great effort from several parties which started a year ago, where coordination was established with delegations and diplomatic and economic figures who attended the last edition of the fair to inform them of the advantages of their next participation.

Al-Ahmad said that Damascus International Fair would be an important opportunity for participant countries to acknowledge the investment opportunities available in the biggest fair in the region.

She added that meetings were held by the Ministry of Economy and Ambassadors and commercial attaches in Damascus.

She noted to the contribution of Syrian Embassies and expatriates in promoting the Fair abroad which led to increasing the participation of companies from different countries around the world.

Al-Ahmad considered that there is a set of requirements that must be met for the participants to achieve positive results which are the issuance of legislations that incentivize investment, including a new investment law and a policy of rationalizing flexible imports which should be adjusted in accordance with the emergency conditions.

The last edition of the Damascus International Fair, which was held after 5 years of interruption, was attended by 43 countries, 23 of which participated officially through embassies and 20 countries struck trade partnerships through independent economic companies.
