Geneva, SANA- Activities of joint meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) and Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) kicked off on Thursday in Geneva with participation of Syria.
The meeting will last till June 23rd to discuss the status of human rights in the region and means of developing the role of parliaments in this regard at the local or global level and issues of migration and asylum.
Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Najdat Anzour is heading the Syrian delegation to the meeting.
Speaking at the Meeting, Anzour referred to the duty of parliamentarians to represent their people correctly and to address social problems, especially immigration and terrorism that hit several countries including Syria.
Discussions will also tackle issues on occupation, sanctions and siege.
