Moscow and Berlin agree on need for a political solution to crisis in Syria

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed the need for a political solution to the crisis in Syria in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254, which affirms Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a press conference with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on Thursday, Lavrov said that the talks dealt with the crisis in Syria, referring to the similarity in the viewpoints of the two countries in terms of implementing UNSC Resolution 2254 and the Syrian people’s right to decide their own future.

The Russian top diplomat added that Moscow will continue its efforts to resume Geneva talks in accordance with the aforementioned UN Resolution and the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi.
