New York, SANA – “Russia and the US are going to submit two draft resolutions on allegations of using chemical weapons in Douma city in Damascus Countryside,” said diplomatic sources on Tuesday, noting that the two draft resolutions will be put to vote during the UN Security Council’s meeting due to be held tonight.
The sources added that Russia has told the UN Security Council that it does not agree with the US-drafted resolution and it will put another draft resolution to vote after voting on the US-drafted resolution.
The Russian draft resolution supports sending experts from the Organization of Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to the site of the alleged attack in Douma city in order to probe into the incident, meantime, the US-drafted resolution calls for forming a new inquiry into what has been called by some officials “the use of chemical weapons in Syria”, in addition to other provisions which Russia vetoed earlier on the 16th of January.
