Damascus, SANA – The Mediterranean gold medallist, wrestler Omar Sarem hopes for a gold medal in the Arab Wrestling Championship to be held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
In an interview with SANA sports bulletin, Sarem said that speed and coordination are necessary ingredients in a winning combination, therefore he is keen on regular exercise to improve his muscular coordination and speed, in addition to adhering to a customized nutrition program to preserve his muscle mass and physical fitness.
Sarem began his wrestling career in 2013 joining Barada Sports Club under the supervision of coaches Mohammed Derar and Firas al-Refa’i respectively. He ranked first in the Republic Junior Wrestling Championships in 2015 and 2016.
In 2017, he took the first place in the Republic Wrestling Championship among Youth and Juniors.
Sarem joined Syria’s national junior freestyle wrestling team in 2015. He was able to improve his skills and expand his expertise through the internal and external training camps, not to mention his participation in Arab and foreign championships.
