Astana, SANA- Russian President’s Special Envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev said that the ninth round of the Astana process will be held in the Kazakh capital on Astana in mid-May 2018.
Lavrentiev stated on Friday that “Astana ninth round will be held in mid-May; it might be on May 14th, 15th, or 16th and we will see the exact date later.”
He considered that the conditions on April might be suitable for forming a committee to discuss the institution saying that “we need at least, after April, to provide the required conditions for the committee to be formed and start working in natural way.”
On the upcoming Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva Lavrentiev clarified that its date depends on UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura’s decision and the progress in forming the committee of discussing the institution.
