295 more food packages distributed in Yarmouk Camp in Damascus

Damascus, SANA – Delivery of humanitarian aid continued in Yarmouk Camp, a neighborhood in southern Damascus that has been besieged by terrorist groups since late 2012, with 295 more food packages were distributed to the residents on Friday.

Thousands of parcels containing food and medical supplies have been delivered in the neighborhood since January 30, 2014.

The distribution of aid was carried out by the General Administration for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), with full support provided by the Syrian government and under the supervision of the Higher Committee for Relief.

GAPAR Director Ali Mustafa said that the UNRWA’s medical center continues to provide health services and medicines to patients who need treatment.

He added that Nour Association for Relief, Development and Progressive Youth has provided vaccines to children.

The inhabitants of Yarmouk Camp are still trapped by armed terrorist groups who have repeatedly hampered the initiatives and efforts which were agreed on to put an end to the crisis inside the neighborhood and provide access to humanitarian assistance.
