Tehran, SANA – Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council, Ali Larijani, denounced the United States’ announcement of the formation of an armed militia in north-eastern Syria and its attempts to impede the efforts to eradicate terrorism in the region.
In a press conference following the end of the 13th edition of the Parliamentary Union of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) on Wednesday, Larijani said: “the Tehran conference witnessed increasing interest in the crisis in Syria more than before because some countries did not wish, several years ago, to find a political solution to this crisis.”
He stressed that the phenomenon of terrorism is not linked to this region, but it extends from North Africa to Asia, the Middle East and to other areas with different names and titles.
“We can not say that terrorism has been eradicated,” Larijani said, adding that Daesh terrorist organization received a painful blow, but its terrorists are still present in other areas of the Islamic world.
Larijani pointed out that all the participants in the conference condemned US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Israeli Zionist entity.
On Wednesday evening, the 13th edition of the Parliamentary Union of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) concluded activities in Tehran with the participation of Syrian delegation headed by Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammodeh Sabbagh.
