Mikdad to Lowcock : No alternative to cooperation with Syria in providing essential services for Syrians

Damascus, SANA – Talks between Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad and under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock , concluded Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Mikdad said that there is no alternative to cooperation with the Syrian government, which represents the main contributor in providing the necessary services to the Syrians, despite the unilateral economic sanctions imposed by the Western countries and their impacts on the innocent Syrian citizens.

He stressed that the Syrian government’s cooperation with international organizations depends on the extent to which these organizations respect the sovereignty, the unity and the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic which is confirmed by all Security Council resolutions.

Mikdad also pointed out to the efforts of the Syrian government and its partners in humanitarian field, mainly the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the civil societies.

Lowcock, for his part, expressed his interest in continuing the positive dialogue with the Syrian state and the will to deep it and consolidate confidence to enhance the efforts of both sides in responding to the impacts of the crisis.
