Russia: Drones Attacked Hmeimim base from southwestern Idleb where armed groups are active

Moscow, SANA – The Russian Defense Ministry affrimed that that the drones used to attack Hmeimim air base in Lattakia were launched from the southwestern part of Idleb province.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry said that the drones that attacked the air base flew out of the area in the southwest of the de-escalation zone in Idleb province, an area where the armed groups that are referred to by some sides as “moderate opposition” are active.

The Ministry noted that it has sent two letters regarding this matter to the Turkish side, calling on it to fulfill its obligations to ensure compliance with the cessation of combat activities by the armed groups under its control, and to step up work on the installation of observation posts in Idleb to prevent such attacks.
