Minsk, SANA- Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) affirmed its support to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling for resolving the crisis in the country through political and diplomatic means via a broad Syrian-Syrian dialogue without any foreign interference.
In a statement on Thursday following a CSTO session, the organization called for the elimination of the terrorist threat in Syria as soon as possible, warning that foreign terrorists would go to “origin” countries or other countries to carry out terrorist attacks.
The CSTO said that holding the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi is important as it contributes to the political settlement to the crisis in Syria on the basis of the UN Security Council resolution no. 2254.
The statement welcomed Russia’s “decisive” contribution to eradicating terror in Syria and creating the conditions for a long-term political settlement, calling on parties concerned to take advantage of the current favorable conditions for intensifying talks under the UN-sponsored Geneva process.
