American delegation meets Culture Minister and Antiquities Chief

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Culture Mohammad al-Ahmad asserted in a meeting with a delegation of American activists that Syria has stood its ground firmly against the highhanded fierce attack on its sovereignty, culture and archaeological heritage.

Heading the delegation, Marcus Southworth of the Second Qumran Charity Foundation pointed out that the visit of the delegation aims at conveying the reality of events happening in Syria to the media, people and officials back in the US so they can see things from another perspective.

Head of the Directorate-General for Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) Mahmoud Hammoud reviewed the situation of the archeological sector in Syria and the damage caused to archeological sites and monuments due to the terrorist attacks.

The delegation, which includes activists working in the medical, legal, social and political domains, arrived in Damascus on Monday on a five-day visit to Syria.
