Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister, Imad Khamis, reviewed the strategic partnership between Russia and Syria in the fields of reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure, agriculture, water resources, transportation, oil, energy and health.
Heading an executive meeting in the presence of representatives of ministries concerned on Wednesday, Khamis discussed the final preparations for the Syrian-Russian Joint Committee, whose meeting is scheduled to be held in the Russian city of Sochi, and the issues to be raised.
The projects and investment opportunities which serve the two countries’ interests, the signature of agreements for increasing the volume of trade exchange and cooperation in the field of free trade zones were reviewed.
The meeting also touched upon facilitating the procedures of granting entry visas to Syrian businessmen and investors and the possibility of holding a permanent exhibition for the Syrian products in Russia and opening a similar Russian center in Syria.
Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem, stressed the importance of expanding activities of the trade offices in both embassies for following up the implementation of the agreements which will be signed.
Al-Moallem pointed out to the necessity of promoting the economic relations in a manner that supports the rebuilding process.
Ministers of health, tourism, local administration, petroleum and mineral resources transportation, and of electricity reviewed their proposed projects and suggestions that will positively strengthen the economic relations and contribute to the reconstruction process in Syria.
