Governmental delegation, headed by Premier khamis, concludes visit to Homs

Homs, SANA – The governmental delegation, headed by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, concluded Sunday its tour to Homs province with inspecting the maintenance work being carried out on the 186-km railway linking between Homs and the Phosphates mines in Palmyra.

Premier Khamis laid down foundation stone for developing and enhancing the productivity of the project of Homs Poultry House in Hassyia area.

The tour included a visit to the Syrian-European Group for Heavy Industries, the first of its kind in the Middle East region to produce wind turbines, in Hassyia Industrial city.

Premier Khamis and the accompanying governmental delegation met board of directors of Hassyia Industrial City, industrialists and investors with Khamis expressing the government’s readiness to provide all facilitations and privileges necessary to encourage industrialists and investments.

Governmental delegation inspects al-Baath University in Homs

Earlier, the delegation inspected al-Baath University the university’s hospital.

Primer Khmais called on the University’s council to assume its responsibility to develop the mechanisms of work, which requires the development of a comprehensive development vision for the university on all levels and to achieve equal opportunities and promote comprehensive development under the current challenges, in line with the national project of administrative reform launched by President Bashar al-Assad.

During the visit, the delegation also inspected the University Hospital Project at the university’s campus in the Faculty of Medicine.

In turn, Higher Education Minister Atef Naddaf said that the hospital will be
a research center for university students and postgraduate students, in addition to services to citizens, adding that a sum of SYP 1.750 billion has been allocated to complete the planned works in the hospital, where the implementation rate has exceeded 20%, while the medical equipment will be provided in parallel with the construction works that are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

For his part, Ahmed Mofid Sobh, Rector of al-Baath University, pointed out that the University is home to 130,000 students and includes 20 faculties, 4 institutes and several centers of cooperation research, guidance and development.

The delegation also inspected the laboratories of plant diseases, seeds and insects at the Plant Protection Department and the Agricultural Training and Education Center at the Directorate of Agriculture.

It also visited Martyr Manhal al-Saleh Health Center in Wadi al-Dahab area.

For his part, Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf pointed out that an amount of SYP 600 million has been allocated for the first stage of rehabilitating sewage system, streets, pavements and health centers in the neighborhoods of al-Wuroud, al-Basel, Wadi al-Dahab and al-Firdous.
