Islamabad, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas called on the international community and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) to push efforts for fighting terrorism in Syria.
She delivered a speech on the opening day of the APA, which kicked off in the Pakistani Capital Islamabad to discuss the political situation in the Asian continent, particularly the issues of international terrorism, economic cooperation and the establishment of the Asian Parliament.
She said the common challenges and the emerging conditions sweeping the region’s countries demand real and serious cooperation both across the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and the Asian Parliament.
The Syrian people’s message to this meeting is a call for unified efforts on the international level to combat terrorism from which they have been badly suffering, she added.
Speaker Abbas called for a serious international cooperation in combating terrorism in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and in cooperation with the countries that suffer due to terrorism.
She demanded that the countries supporting the terrorist organizations in Syria and elsewhere stop their wrong policies.
Abbas called on the members of the Assembly for supporting Syria’s demand for lifting the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people and its government’s procedures in providing relief and aid to the internally displaced people, in addition to supporting the reconciliation tracks that are being accomplished by the Syrian state.
