Damascus, Apr. 23 (SANA) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat discussed with Deputy UN Special Envoy to Syria Claudio Cordone ways to advance transitional justice and mechanisms to achieve civil peace and social cohesion in Syria.
During the meeting, held Thursday at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, both sides reviewed measures to curb hate speech and promote a culture of dialogue and acceptance among all components of Syrian society.
The talks, which come within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the ministry and the United Nations, also addressed the importance of creating appropriate conditions for holding free elections with the participation of all segments of the Syrian people, in a manner that preserves national sovereignty and stability.
This session builds upon previous strategic meetings, including Minister Kabawat’s discussions on March 27 with the UN Resident Humanitarian Coordinator, Nathalie Fustier. During those talks, the focus was on aligning UN support programs with Syria’s national developmental policies to move from emergency aid toward sustainable socio-economic recovery.
