Berlin, April 21 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labour Hind Kabawat on Tuesday participated in the “Building Bridges for a Better Future for Syria” conference in Berlin, focusing on reconstruction and economic recovery.
Organized by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the conference marked the first anniversary of its platform “New Beginning for Syria,” launched in February 2025 to strengthen Syrian community engagement in reconstruction efforts.
On the sidelines of the event, Kabawat held talks with her German counterpart, Federal Minister Reem Alabali Radovan.
In her address, Alabali Radovan said: “The reconstruction of Syria requires strong voices and committed bridge-builders,” adding that many members of the Syrian community are making vital contributions despite challenging conditions.
German development cooperation prioritizes support for Syria’s education, healthcare and infrastructure sectors, with the Syrian community identified as a key partner.
The event, co-hosted with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), featured panel discussions, workshops, a photo exhibition and a “Marketplace of Engagement,” with around 300 participants from community groups, civil society and political institutions.
