Damascus, March 3 (SANA) Interior Minister Anas Khattab met Tuesday with a delegation from the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry, headed by Commissioner Monia Ammar and Commissioner Fionnuala Ní Aoláin.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the commission’s findings and recommendations on human rights issues in the country. The minister affirmed the ministry’s commitment to studying and engaging with the recommendations in line with national legislation and applicable international standards.
He stressed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international institutions in a manner that supports institutional development and reinforces transparency and the rule of law.
The meeting was attended by Brig. Gen. Samer al-Hussein, the minister’s adviser for legal affairs and human rights, along with several ministry officials.
