Al-Hasakah, Feb. 3 (SANA) Commander of Internal Security in al-Hasakah Province Brig. Gen. Marwan al-Ali and Interior Ministry spokesperson Nour Eddin al-Baba on Tuesday inspected a former SDF security headquarters in Qamishli ahead of the deployment of internal security forces there.
Al-Baba said the Interior Ministry has begun taking over security buildings in the city from the SDF as part of preparations for deployment and maintaining public order, in implementation of the Jan. 18 agreement reached between the Syrian government and the SDF.
He added that the handover process reflected a very positive atmosphere among all parties, stressing that Syrians need such conditions and that what is taking place represents a victory for all components of society and the opening of a new chapter for rebuilding Syria away from hate speech and division.
Al-Baba underscored that Syria is built through the efforts of all its citizens, Arabs, Kurds and others alike, voicing hope that the remaining provisions of the agreement will be implemented within the set timeframe for the benefit of all Syrians.
He noted that al-Hasakah Province does not need more bloodshed or shelling but, like the rest of the country, requires extensive development, saying the return of state institutions following the agreement would help transform the province into a renewed economic and urban hub for Syria.
Earlier today, Interior Ministry units began entering Qamishli as part of the implementation of the agreement announced by the Syrian government last Friday, which stipulates a ceasefire within a broader framework, a phased integration of military and administrative structures, the deployment of security forces in the centers of al-Hasakah and Qamishli, and the handover of all civil and governmental institutions, crossings and border points to the state.
