Damascus, SANA-The spokesperson for Syria’s Supreme Committee for People’s Assembly Elections, Nawar Najmeh, announced that the subcommittees will take the oath Wednesday in most provinces, marking the start of their duties in accordance with the provisional electoral law issued under Decree No. 143 of 2025.
Najmeh told SANA that the subcommittees for the southern region covering Damascus, Damascus countryside, Daraa, and Quneitra will convene at 1:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the People’s Assembly, while members of the Supreme Committee will head to other provinces to oversee proceedings.
He stressed that this step reflects the committee’s commitment to ensuring transparency and efficiency in the electoral process, noting that the subcommittees will receive detailed instructions and operational guidelines to begin their work.
On Monday, the Supreme Committee issued Decision No. 26 of 2025, appointing members to subcommittees in the electoral districts of Aleppo, Quneitra, Homs, Latakia, and Deir Ezzor.
