Lattakia, March 7 (SANA) A young man died while herding sheep, and two others were injured, one of whom was the victim’s brother, while trying to pull out the body, as a result of the explosion of two landmines left behind by the deposed regime in the village of Ain Issa, Jabal al-Turkman of the northern countryside of Lattakia.
Syrian Civil Defense teams from the Ministry of Emergencies and Disaster Management recovered the victim’s body and took it to the University Hospital in Lattakia.
Mines and unexploded ordnance left behind by the ousted regime remain among the most prominent challenges facing a number of areas in Syria, as they pose a threat to the lives of civilians, while the authorities concerned continue their efforts to remove these mines and unexploded ordnance.
