The Presidency of the Republic building in Damascus - SANA

Damascus, March 12 (SANA) The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic announced on Thursday that all public institutions will observe a holiday break in celebration of a series of national and religious occasions. The holiday includes Syrian Revolution Day, Eid al-Fitr, Mother’s Day, and Nowruz.

The official holiday will commence on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, and continue through Monday, March 23, 2026, inclusive.

The General Secretariat clarified that the provisions of Paragraph (c) of Article 43 of the Basic Law for State Workers will apply to public entities whose nature of work requires continuous operation. These specific departments and agencies will maintain essential services throughout the holiday period to ensure public needs are met.

This rare convergence of holidays—marking the anniversary of the Syrian Revolution (March 18), the religious celebration of Eid al-Fitr (expected to fall on March 20), and the dual celebration of Mother’s Day and Nowruz (March 21)—represents a significant period of national observance and rest for the Syrian workforce.
