Beirut, Mar 13 (SANA) Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, condemned on Thursday the Israeli airstrike that targeted the Faculty of Sciences at the Lebanese University in Beirut, stressing that this attack constitutes a crime by all standards and a flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
Lebanese National News Agency reported that this the President’s comments came during a phone call with Rector of the Lebanese University, Dr. Bassam Badran, in which he offered his condolences on the deaths of two faculty members in the Israeli bombing of the university campus.
President Joseph Aoun indicated that the attack represents a new chapter in the targeting of civilians, whether in their villages and towns, or in their workplaces and places of study, calling on the international community to take immediate action to put an end to those violations and to ensure the protection of Lebanon and its educational and civilian institutions.
“Israel” has intensified its airstrikes in Lebanon in recent days, targeting various locations in the south, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
