New York, Sept. 22 (SANA) Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned that repeated Israeli incursions into southern Syria, territorial expansion and attempts to impose new realities on the ground, including actions affecting vital water resources, represent “a warning the international community chooses to ignore.”
In an address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, King Abdullah said Israel’s expansionist ambitions had become a regional threat, according to Jordan’s Petra news agency.
Israel, he said, is testing “one calculated step at a time” how far it can go, adding that each time the international community looks away, it concludes that it can push further and cross geographic and legal boundaries.
The King warned that Israel’s continued actions in southern Syria raise questions about the international community’s willingness to act, saying the situation requires immediate and sustained attention.
He stressed that Jordan would not ignore any threat to its security, borders or the interests of its people.
