Washington, Jan.3 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that American forces have “arrested” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and flown them out of Venezuela during a military operation inside the country.
CNN quoted Trump as saying in a post on the Truth Social platform: “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale military operation against Venezuela and its president, Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested along with his wife and transferred out of the country.”
Trump added that the operation was carried out in cooperation with U.S. law enforcement agencies, noting that further details will be announced later.
In a relevant context, the Venezuelan government affirmed that the entire country must mobilize to “defeat this aggression,” and called on the peoples and governments of Latin America, the Caribbean region, and the world to mobilize and show active solidarity with Venezuela.
Explosions were heard in Caracas early this morning , coinciding with heavy overflights by warplanes in Caracas and other parts of the country, while the Venezuelan government accused the United States of launching an attack on the country.
