Damascus, Sept. 7 (SANA) Syria and Uzbekistan discussed Monday ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Nada al-Aswad, Director of the Afro-Asian and Oceanian Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, held talks with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Damascus Ayub Khan Butsov on prospects for developing relations in various fields.
The two sides agreed to prepare for political consultations between the Syrian and Uzbek foreign ministries and discussed ways to advance economic and investment cooperation.
The meeting also addressed plans to open an Uzbek House in Damascus as part of efforts to strengthen cultural and people-to-people ties.
Earlier in September, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani received a copy of Butsov’s credentials as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Syria during a meeting in Damascus, formally marking his diplomatic accreditation.
