Washington, Oct. 2 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump intends to appoint current Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead the federal government’s policy on “super intelligence”—the term the White House officially adopted for artificial intelligence.
Reporting on the planned appointment Friday, Agence France-Presse (AFP) noted that President Trump stated earlier this week he would soon unveil his pick to oversee the national tech portfolio, succeeding David Sacks following his departure at the end of March.
U.S. television network CBS News reported that Clayton is expected to remain in his current post as Director of National Intelligence while assuming oversight of artificial intelligence strategy across federal agencies.
Clayton assumed the position of Director of National Intelligence following Senate confirmation in late July, having previously served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan since April 2025.
