Barzani urges halt to media attacks on Syrian Arabs in Kurdistan Region

Erbil, Jan. 12 (SANA) Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani on Monday condemned campaigns launched in recent days by some media platforms and social media accounts against Syrian Arab citizens residing in the Kurdistan Region, saying such actions are inappropriate and inconsistent with the principles and values of the people of Kurdistan.

In a statement issued Monday, Barzani said the campaigns also contradict the policies and vision of the Kurdistan Region’s institutions.

Barzani called for respect for Syrian Arab refugees and citizens who have sought refuge in the region and live there peacefully.

Barzani called for an end to what he described as illegitimate campaigns, urging the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to prevent a recurrence of such behavior.

The statement followed media activity and posts on social media platforms that incite hostility against Syrian Arab residents in the Kurdistan Region.
