Khartoum, Oct. 2 (SANA) The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced Friday that they have captured the strategic al-Mazrub region in North Kordofan state following heavy clashes with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a statement published on platform X, the military spokesperson confirmed that Sudanese armed forces and allied units reclaimed al-Mazrub after military engagements that inflicted significant casualties and equipment losses on RSF combatants.
The military spokesperson stated that national forces will continue field operations across multiple fronts to secure state sovereignty, restore public safety, and protect civilian property.
The army urged residents of newly liberated areas to return to their daily lives, reassuring citizens that military units remain deployed to maintain security and safeguard civilian populations.
Sudan has been gripped by armed conflict between the SAF and the RSF since April 2023, resulting in thousands of casualties, displacing millions both internally and across borders, and triggering severe humanitarian warnings over expanding regional violence.
