London, Sept. 3 (SANA) EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned that Israel’s planned E1 settlement expansion in the West Bank would effectively divide the territory and seriously undermine prospects for a two-state solution.
Speaking at a news conference Wednesday after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Ireland, Kallas also raised concerns over rising settler violence against Palestinians.
“Settler violence against Palestinians is escalating and often goes unchecked,” Kallas said, according to the European External Action Service.
She said the European Union would continue to support the Gaza peace plan and work with international partners toward a two-state solution.
Israeli occupation authorities last month issued a tender for 1,234 settlement units in the E1 area as part of a broader plan for 3,401 units east of Jerusalem.
The European Union has warned that the project would undermine the viability of a two-state solution and violate international law.
