Washington, May 21 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran were entering a final stage, while warning that Washington could carry out further military strikes if Tehran does not agree to a deal.
Speaking to reporters upon arriving at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Wednesday, Trump said he had been close to authorizing additional attacks but decided to delay them to allow more time for diplomacy.
“We’re willing to wait a few days for the right response from Iran,” Trump said.
His comments came days after he said a planned U.S. military strike against Iran had been postponed following requests from Gulf leaders and amid what he described as serious ongoing negotiations with Tehran.
The remarks underscored continued tensions between Washington and Tehran despite renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation in the region.
