Capitals, May 18 (SANA) Several Arab countries and regional organizations condemned the drone attack near the Barakah nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region.
Oman’s Foreign Ministry said Monday it condemned the drone strike and reaffirmed solidarity with the UAE in measures aimed at protecting its security and territorial integrity.
In a statement posted on X, the ministry reiterated Oman’s opposition to “all hostile and escalatory acts” and called for dialogue to address regional challenges in accordance with international law and principles of non-interference.
Mauritania also condemned the attack “in the strongest terms,” with its Foreign Ministry expressing full solidarity with the UAE against actions that could threaten the country’s security or critical infrastructure.
Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi likewise denounced the attack involving three drones, one of which targeted the Barakah facility.
In a statement published on the GCC website, Al-Budaiwi said Gulf states support the UAE in measures aimed at maintaining security and stability and protecting citizens and residents.
He described the incident as a dangerous escalation and warned that attacks targeting nuclear and vital infrastructure could pose risks to regional stability, civilian safety and global energy supplies.
The UAE said Sunday that a fire broke out in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant after it was struck by a drone.
