Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, April 6 (SANA) The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait said Monday their air defenses intercepted missile and drone attacks launched from Iran, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
The UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems had intercepted incoming missiles and drones in recent hours. On Sunday, Emirati authorities added that four people were injured by falling shrapnel in the Khor Fakkan port area in Sharjah after the interceptions.
Kuwait’s military said its forces also intercepted “hostile missile and drone attacks originating from Iran.” A spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, Colonel Staff Saud al-Atwan, said Kuwaiti forces had dealt with nine ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles and 31 drones within the country’s airspace over the past 24 hours.
According to Kuwaiti authorities, the attacks targeted critical infrastructure, including two power and water desalination plants, facilities linked to the oil sector and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, as well as a building within the government ministries complex. The strikes caused significant material damage and triggered multiple fires.
The developments come amid ongoing hostilities involving Iran, the United States and Israel, which began on February 28 and have led to casualties and damage to infrastructure across the region.
