Qatar, Ukraine call for de-escalation amid rising tensions
Qatari Emir and Ukrainian President hold talks in Doha, urging restraint and diplomatic solutions as regional tensions escalate

Doha, March 28 (SANA) Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held talks on Saturday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, focusing on escalating security concerns and their regional and international implications.

According to the Qatar News Agency, the two leaders stressed the need for an immediate halt to military actions that could widen conflicts in both the Middle East and Ukraine. They warned that further escalation could have serious consequences for global stability and called for increased diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and support peace.

During the talks, Zelenskyy expressed Ukraine’s solidarity with Qatar and condemned Iranian attacks, reaffirming support for measures taken by Doha to protect its sovereignty and security. The Qatari emir welcomed Kyiv’s position, the agency said.

The meeting comes amid heightened tensions, with several Gulf states recently hit by Iranian missile and drone attacks affecting civilian infrastructure and residential areas, as a broader confrontation involving the United States, Israel and Iran continues.
