Riyadh / Doha, March 11 (SANA) Saudi Arabia and Qatar said Wednesday that their air defense systems intercepted several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched toward their territories, according to statements from the two countries’ defense ministries.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense said its air defenses destroyed multiple aerial threats, including drones and ballistic missiles targeting strategic locations in the kingdom.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said air defense units shot down five drones. Three were intercepted while heading toward the Shaybah oil field, while two others were destroyed in the Eastern Province.
Earlier, the ministry said its air defenses also intercepted seven ballistic missiles targeting Prince Sultan Air Base and the Eastern Region, as well as two drones near Hafar al-Batin.
Separately, Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems intercepted a missile attack targeting the country.
The Qatari News Agency (QNA) reported on Tuesday that Qatari air defenses intercepted five Iranian ballistic missiles in the country’s airspace, neutralizing them without casualties or damage.
Both countries said their defensive systems remain on high alert to counter any threats to national security and territorial safety.
