Beirut, April 11 (SANA) – Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Saturday that the death toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 has risen to 2,020, with 6,436 people wounded.
The figures, released by the ministry’s Emergency Operations Center and reported by the National News Agency, reflect the cumulative toll since the start of the Israeli military escalation earlier in March.
The attacks began March 2 following exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanon-Israel border, marking a significant escalation that has affected several regions, including Beirut, southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley.
Lebanese authorities say continued airstrikes and artillery shelling have caused widespread damage to residential areas, infrastructure and public facilities. Emergency teams are searching for victims believed to be trapped under rubble.
Recent waves of strikes have intensified the humanitarian impact, with reports that hundreds of civilians were killed in a single day during major bombardments targeting dozens of sites.
The escalation has triggered mass displacement, with large numbers of residents fleeing southern areas to safer regions, adding pressure to Lebanon’s already strained economy and humanitarian conditions.
Officials have warned that continued attacks risk deepening the crisis and further destabilizing the country amid one of its most severe economic and humanitarian challenges in recent years.
