Ankara, June 1 (SANA) Türkiye strongly condemned on Monday the storming of al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers, describing it as a clear violation of international law.
In a statement cited by Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said it “strongly condemns the incursion of extremist Israeli groups into al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli security forces, accompanied by provocative acts, including raising the Israeli flag and chanting inside the compound.”
The statement stressed that such practices aimed at undermining the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem—particularly al-Aqsa Mosque—constitute a blatant breach of international law and risk further destabilizing the region.
It added that “the Israeli occupation continues its provocations and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites,” calling on the international community to increase pressure on Israel to halt these actions.
According to Jerusalem Governorate media director Omar al-Rajoub, Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, raising flags and performing provocative rituals as part of what he described as a systematic Israeli policy aimed at imposing temporal and spatial division of the site.
