Qatar calls for accountability over Israeli violations against Palestinians
Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Hind Abdulrahman al-Muftah

Geneva, March 24 (SANA) Qatar said on Tuesday that Israeli actions against Palestinians must be held accountable, stressing that the international community cannot remain silent.

Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Hind Abdulrahman al-Muftah, made the remarks during the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA) news agency.

Al-Muftah referred to findings in a report by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, which she said documented practices including arbitrary detention, torture, inhumane treatment, killings, forced displacement and the destruction of basic living conditions.

She said these acts represent serious violations of international law and may constitute war crimes, calling for those responsible to be held accountable.

Al-Muftah added that such violations affect vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, people with disabilities and women.

She reiterated Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people’s rights, including self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders.

Earlier Tuesday, Palestine’s UN envoy in Geneva, Ibrahim Khraishi, said the report points to what he described as systematic abuse of Palestinians that may amount to genocide.
