Washington, April 15 (SANA) The U.S. military said on Wednesday it had implemented a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports within 36 hours of launching the operation.

Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), said in a statement posted on X that the measures aim to halt maritime trade to and from Iran.

The announcement follows talks between the United States and Iran late last week in Islamabad that ended without agreement. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the restrictions would apply to all vessels heading to or departing from Iranian ports. The U.S. military said the move is intended to increase economic pressure on Tehran by targeting maritime supply routes. The measures could affect regional trade and global energy markets.
